They're already here

Torchwood stands proudly on its own two feet and screams "Doctor Who?" with a cracking run of episodes in the coming weeks. Here's what I can tell you:
Sleeper
A possible recurring storyline begins in this week's episode, 'Sleeper'. A woman named Beth slaughters two burglars, seemingly without recollection of the incident. Torchwood soon uncovers the truth - that she is a "sleeper agent", one of several aliens who have infiltrated Earth under the guise of humans, living their lives as normal until "activation" time. Only problem is, Beth has no idea she's not human. And guess what time it is?
You go girl!
Tosh is finally getting a bit of action. She falls for a very old man indeed, but heartbreak is in store when they are cruelly ripped apart. Meanwhile her flame for Owen is still burning brightly, and we'll see more evidence of that in the coming weeks. Mine's tuna mayo, love.
Torchwood -90
Who are Gerald and Harriet? We may discover a bit more about Torchwood's past in future episodes.
Doctor Jack
Is Captain Jack becoming more like the Doctor? Episode four, about an ever-growing alien that is being harvested for its meat, brings out CJ's empathetic side. "We see enough death," he tells his team then, echoing many a Tennant scene, touches the wounded beast and enquires: "What have they done to you, my poor friend?"
They Keep Waking Tommy
Episode three introduces us to Tommy, a soldier who was cryogenically frozen by Torchwood in 1918 and has to be defrosted every year for one day only. Hence every year is like a day for Tommy, who is still the same age 90 years on - and just as clueless over why this is happening to him. Clue: that pesky rift plays a big part.
Clueless no more
Rhys finally learns the truth about who Gwen works for in episode four, then is plunged straight into the action as he goes undercover on an operation. When the time comes for him to be fed an amnesia pill, Gwen throws down an ultimatum to Captain Jack.
Who said that?
"All quiet here, just that little spike from earlier"
"Let's all have sex."
"I could murder a cup of tea."
"We know who you are, Jack Harkness."
"I catch aliens."
"This is quite homerotic."
"They're already here."

So, ther are "sleeper agents" who according to the picture have blades for arms? Isn't Rhys in the preview shown with those arms?

Has to be said Torchwood's one of my favourite shows. Loved the first episode; hope the rest live up to the same standard really. Would really hate it if John Barrowman left - he's unsure if he's going to stay for season 3 apparently? ...Pay him lots?

Sleeper agents all well and good, but isn't that basically the premise of Battlestar Galactica?? Ep 1 was thrilling though - bring back John Hart! - all those buffy-style quips were coool... :)

Very impressed with the start of season 2. Stuck with Torchwood throughout season 1 despite dull scripts, wooden acting, and the pointless need to swear and add sex to try and make the drama more adult. Season 2 seems to have matured and found its feet so far. The first episode was witty without being cringeworthy, the actors seemed comfortable in their characters, and the plot was a great device to reintroduce everyone again and bring in a fresh new character. Would like to see James Marsters becoming a recurring character - an embittered ex-love of Captain Jack behaving like a lover scorned. Kind of like the way the Master used to be to the Doctor, before Russel T Davies turned him into a pantomime camp villain that would make the Chuckle Brothers look scary. Fingers crossed that the guest stars in the rest of Torchwood are real actors, and not has-been comedic actors looking for some prime time exposure (sorry, started ranting at Dr Who then!!).

'Celebrity Juice' breaks ITV2 recordThe Keith Lemon panel game earns ITV2 its highest ever audience.

Episode 2 was better than last season, so the show is definitley going in the right direction this year. There were moments when I feared that the plot was going to become cringeworthy and that the script might be questionable - but it managed to hold it altogether tightly and perform as brilliant second episode. The writers and producers now seem to have grasped the concept of a story arc and are creating characters and aliens that are clearly being lined up for bigger episodes. The idea of the Sleeper agents may not be original to the sci-fi universe, but they are sure as fun as hell to the Torchwood universe. It can add to the tension of a show, such as "24", when you don't know who to trust, and when literally anyone can turn out to be a wolf in sheeps clothing. Am loving the subtle relationship growing between Jack and Ianto (I think this would just go over the heads of younger viewers), and I especially love the sarcasm ad humour of Ianto's character this season. Still, would love to the show facilitate the return of some new Time Lords through the spacetime rift. The last few episodes of Dr Who's third season showed that the Master was able to escape the Time War and travel to the end of the universe in his TARDIS.... but nobody had asked the question yet: where the f*** is is his TARDIS? If that could get pulled through the rift into Cardiff it would be fantastic to see the team try and work out what it is (because it won't look anything like a blue police box!). Am sure any more surviving Time Lords looking for a new TARDIS would track it down to Cardiff. Whoops.... have I just given away the end of Season 4 of Dr Who? It would explain why Jack recruits Martha to come to Torchwood as she has experience of operating a TARDIS better than he. Captain Jack's nemesis Captain John would definitey see the benefit of owning his own time travelling machine (better than a wrist strap), and Billis Manger might make a reappearance luring Captain John to work for him. Torchwood season finale could see Jack & Marthah escaping in the Master's TARDIS leaving the show behind.... In Dr Who we see that something goes wrong because Martha and Jack are not Time Lords and the TARDIS pulls itself to someone who recently had the Time Vortex in them, taking them to Rose in the alternate universe. Together, they have to find a way to travel across the parralell universes in the Master's TARDIS and get back home - and Rose wants this opportunity to come back to see the Doctor. Hence their crossover into the Season 4 of Dr Who. The Doctor and Donna in one TARDIS, and Jack, Martha and Rose in the Master's TARDIS. But is Rose still really Rose? Has someone else been drawn to her recently, having chased down the energy left behind from the Time Vortex. It's clear that the finale of Dr Who's fourth season won't feature Daleks or Cybermen (the writers would be accused of being lazy and repetative) and to bring back the Master in the guise of John Simm would be ridiculous. Season Four of Doctor Who has to end with Captain Jack being able to return to Torchwood for season 3, but it also needs to explain why there is going to be a series of one off specials instead of a full season for series 5. Only Russell T Davies knows what he has up his sleeves. but if I was a betting man, I'd say that "The Last of The Time Lords" finale alluded to multiple Time Lords being alive, not just the Doctor and the Master. Zoe Lucker is on the BBC payroll, so there could be some truth in her appearance as the Rani - remember, John Simms denied for months that he was playing the Master! So to end it, I'd love to see Captain Jack left holding a renegade Time Lord prisoner in Torchwood. Waiting for the return of the Doctor.
