Is it really March already? Yes, the nights may be getting lighter and the weather a little less cold, but spare a thought for our transatlantic cousins in the TV business. For them, this is a time of dread, as the networks decide whether they'll make the cut for next season.
Over the next few weeks there'll be tears and heartache as we bid goodbye to some long-time favourites. And it starts right now, as one US drama has already been given the axe. But is it your fave? Read on to find out which.
Are you hoping for a new season of Supernatural? Does Robin Hood deserve to come back? Add your comments to this entry using the link below.

Over the next few weeks there'll be tears and heartache as we bid goodbye to some long-time favourites. And it starts right now, as one US drama has already been given the axe. But is it your fave? Read on to find out which.
laura webb: "i love watching Jericho on ITV4. I know that a second shorter season is being shown in the US in February and wondered if ITV4 has picked this up aswell and if so when it will be shown??"
Neil: That is correct: the show has returned for a limited run of seven episodes, although they're not rating very well in the US unfortunately. You can watch season two here on Hallmark from May, but there is no word yet on whether it will follow on ITV4. As it's only seven eps we're talking about, I would suspect so.
Demetrius: "Hi, i see that C5 is now showing season 3 of Greys, any idea when Living is showing season 4?"
Neil: You'd have guessed June or July, as usual. But no! I'm told it'll actually be the Autumn by the time season four airs on Living (just as season five begins in the US).
Dez: "Hi Neil - thank goodness the Q&A is back. Any news about the second season of Friday Night Lights? Yes, I’m the one who watched it."
Neil: I'm told that this "is not in the schedules for 2008". I should add that I don't necessarily believe the person who told me that.
JC: "Can you tell me if there is a start date for the next season (season 4) of Rescue Me on Sky One?"
Neil: Arguably one of the best shows on TV, Rescue Me returns to Sky One in the summer. Production is about to get underway on the fifth season, which has an extended run of 22 episodes (up from the usual 13).
Alex: "Hi Neil, great to see the Q&A back again, but I doubt this one will get answered for a while. Just wondering if you know when the next series of Shipwrecked will be aired? I've heard that filming finished weeks ago and the previous seasons have all started in the January. I also know that this series is going to be longer than the others, so why the delay in starting it? Not bad news I hope!"
Neil: I'm not sure for the reasons behind it, but Shipwrecked has been pushed back by three months to some time in April. I'm also hearing rumours that despite what was said, this series could be even shorter than previous runs...
Rob: "I notice on digitalspy that FX are going to start advertising the new series of Nip/Tuck. Is there any word on whether FX will sell on the rights to a freeview channel?"
Neil: An interesting question. The likes of Sky One (24, Lost, Bones) and Living (Ghost Whisperer, Top Model, Criminal Minds) have in recent years tended to buy the full set of rights and keep them all, making them the exclusive broadcasters for these particular shows. FX, meanwhile, buys the exclusive rights but then doesn't mind selling off the free TV rights - NCIS has gone to Five, and more recently, Dexter to ITV - reasoning that it will only serve to raise awareness of the shows and encourage more people to watch them first on FX. Nip/Tuck is back on March 18, and if you haven't seen the advert - somebody at FX has been watching Channel 4's marketing strategy very closely - then click here.
Martin: "Hi Neil, as usual, loving your work! A long time ago now you mentioned that Commander-In-Chief may return as a tv movie instead of a second series. (see how we hang on your every word.) Any news on that or has America given up that too? (dont even get me started on cancelling Studio 60!)"
Neil: The project was abandoned a year ago, I am sad to report. Geena Davis took a long break after C-I-C ended but has just started work on a new film called Accidents Happen, out next year.
wullie: "now that the writers strike is over what is happening with Heroes, have they started filming again or what"
Neil: Production on Heroes resumes at the start of May, and it will likely return to air in the US in early September. There could be as many as 30 episodes next season, and we're likely to get two volumes as part of it.
Ashley: "Hi, can you tell me when season 5 of Las Vegas is due on Sky 1? Ta."
Neil: For those who haven't heard, Las Vegas was officially axed this week due to a combination of low ratings, high production costs and that blasted writers' strike. Expect the final season to play out on Sky from May. Had Vegas run its course? Leave your thoughts at the end of the column.
J: "Hey Neil, happy new year! Just wondering about the BBC's Robin Hood. Any idea if it'll be back, and if so, which cast members will be returning (obviously not Marian!) Cheers, keep up the good work! J"
Neil: I know there has been some confusion over whether the show would be returning for a third series - especially with the series two ending - but I can confirm that Robin will definitely be back for more jolly capers later in the year. Filming has already begun in Hungary.
Claire Marshall: "Hi, Do you have any idea why ITV would buy and show Heist when it was axed in the US last year and isn't even a complete series? I have foolishly watched four episodes before discovering that it just stops 6 episodes in. It seems a very odd thing to have paid for in the knowledge that it had been axed...(I am sure they are quite gutted about the Bionic Woman too but they haven't had any choice in that one!)"
Neil: Often shows are purchased many months before they even air in the US, let alone be axed. This has led to numerous embarrassments for British broadcasters over the years, but most notable was ITV's pickup of the JJ Abrams drama flop Six Degrees two years ago. The network had so much faith in the series that it even promised to put it on primetime ITV1! They have still yet to air it, by the way. Not even on one of the digital channels.
Amy: "I've heard rumours that The Palace has been axed or will be axed. Any news on this? I really hope it gets a second series - I'm loving it!"
Neil: It's not looking good, to be honest. The show is currently averaging just over 3 million viewers in a slot that normally gets closer to 6 million. But that said, ITV recommissioned Moving Wallpaper and Echo Beach, so who knows?
Henrietta: "Hi Neil, could you possibly tell me when the new series of Britain's Next Top Model is going to air. I know the filming is about to finish. Do you know whether Lisa Snowdon will still be presenting?- as they are having a huge production overhaul. Also out of interest due to the WGA strike how many episodes will there be in this series of Lost? THANK YOU so so much.."
Neil: BNTM is back at the end of April - and Lisa Snowdon is still the host. Lost will run to 13 episodes (three short of expected) this season.
Kirsty Brown: "Any word on a new series of Supernatural??"
Neil: It's looking good at the moment, but keep everything crossed and be prepared to mount the mother of all internet campaigns if it doesn't go our way. There are some great episodes still to come this season by the way, including one that sees the return of season one buffoons The Hellhounds.

Robin Hood should definitely come back.It is entertaining escapism, which can move from hilarity to pathos faster than an arrowshot. The sheriff is the best baddie ever, and gets more than his fair share of the brilliant humour that stimulates each episode. I hope Marian soon recovers from her untimely death.

I have watched Las Vegas since the beginning. To leave it on the cliffhanger that they have (I watch ( sorry watched...) at US Pace) is an insult to loyal viewers ! They need to do something to wrap the story up, maybe release straight to DVD? NBC can only blame themselves for low viewing figures since they moved it to Fri nights !!

Las Vegas I loved that show, but was getting a bit boring, shame they axed it tho. Plus isn't the same without James Caan......

Shame about Las Vegas ending before the final three episodes were made. Is there anyway we can try and get them made as have heard fan power has even brought back programs that have been axed before, we need the final three episodes and it cant end with the dreaded "to be continued"
