Torso of steel, shilling a feel

Published Tuesday, Mar 18 2008, 17:40 GMT | By Neil Wilkes | 4 comments
Before we get started with the usual Torchwood Tuesday goodness, a word about the downright unusual scheduling of the show in the next couple weeks.

This Wednesday, BBC Two viewers get to see episode ten (previewed here last week), while BBC Three viewers will be treated to episode eleven (more below). Then on Friday - Good Friday, no less - episode eleven airs on BBC Two, swiftly followed by episode twelve for digital dwellers.

Episode twelve airs on BBC Two the following Friday, March 28, but there'll be no first-look of the series finale on BBC Three. Instead you early previewers will need to wait until Friday, April 4 to see the return of James Marsters (his cameo in episode 12 excepted) at the same time as everybody else on BBC Two.

There, all clear? Feel free to print out, stick to your fridge and plan your lives accordingly.

Negative spikes
This week's first episode, 'Adrift', is a case for Gwen, who becomes drawn into a police investigation into the mysterious disappearance of a 15-year-old boy. It turns out that he is just the latest in a string of people going missing - and that pesky rift may have something to do with it.

Andy's payoff
This episode means good news for PC Andy fans, as the jealous copper - remember? he has a thing for Gwen - gets more screentime than Tosh, Owen and Ianto combined. He also has an unexpected proposition for Gwen.

Mercy killings
The second of this week's episodes is a look back to the past. We learn how each member in turn joined the Torchwood team (apart, of course, from Gwen, because we all know that story), from Victorian paranoia with Jack through to international espionage with Tosh.

Time is running out
One member of the team, we discover, joined five years ago on a five-year deal. Does this mean their time with Torchwood is about to come to a close?

Who said that?
Time now for some select quotes from this episode. Add your guesses for who said the lines - and what the starred-out words are - using the link to leave comments at the end of the column.

"*,3*2 deaths earlier"
"First I'm going to **** him, then I'm going to **** him."
"Some things we can't fix."
"For a lovely girl, you've got a **** ***** *****"
"Not all the **s***g r***r*."

It's even more confusing for BBC HD Viewers, who *don't* get their usual preview on friday, so god knows what's happened to their schedules...

"First I'm going to find him, then I'm going to kill him." Is my guess!

"First I'm going to shag him, then I'm going to kill him." or should that be, "First I'm going to kill him, then I'm going to shag him." Well, it wouldn't be the first time.

"2,342 deaths earlier"
"First I'm going to kill him, then I'm going to bury him."
"Some things we can't fix."
"For a lovely girl, you've got a very large mouth"
"Not all the **s*ing r***r*."
