i think season one and two were great, and i recently watched season three. it was hard to grab myself into it as i did with one and two, and about the guest appearances: i think you should. i think all of them should come back for a holiday like, christams or whatever and all meet up again and shit. i dont rly like the fact that you dumped the whole cast. even tho its aimed at teenagers, i want to know what happens to everyone else; tony, sid and cassie, maxxie and his boif with amwar etc. :) soo, at least give us an appearance of the old guys back again is season four? (:

I cant believe they left so many loose ends after the second season! The decision to focus on new characters in season three was a good idea but as a viewer i need closure about the old cast! Please bring them back in season 4. P.S Season three is so over the top its just difficult to watch. All the characters are so unbelievable and exaggerated. :( So sad...

Look man, you could've extended those 2 years into 4 series or something! And by the way all that Cassie ending was quite bad, from a realistic point of view. Greay show by the way, and episode 1 , series 1 is top of the tops. Simple and raw, like real life. See it again. Inspire yourself.

As Sir Humphrey was wont to say in Yes Minister so many years ago "a COURAGEOUS decision minister", and we all know what THAT meant.

I watched SKINS very excited. When Chris was died, I was very sad. Anyway this drama is very very fun! So I want to watch new season as soon as possible. I expect new stories about new character.
Emma, The Wirral on July 30th, 2008
So, what... They're just going to leave the question of Sid and Cassie in New York unanswered forever? How is that good TV? The other characters were pretty much wrapped up, but those two were not. Disappointing.

i like the idea it makes sence to change the cast after the 2 years of collage and this way it stops people becoming attached to a particular charecter .i think that the new cast will have alot to live up to and skins may loose alot of loyal fans but im interested to see what will happen next.

Its a brave move and I will be watching eagerly to see if it works. I will miss the cast but it seems like a fresh way of doing a show. As for which series was best, i think both had their advantages. The first was funny and entertaining whereas the second was more serious but just as captivating. My favourite episode overall was the Russian episode in Series 1 though!
Sam, London on April 21st, 2008
Both series of skins were amazing but there were so many things left unfinished I think this would be a good decision after a third or fourth series but axing the hole cast now is a big big mistake! Chris dieing was very sad as he was one of the best charectors but I wont say it shouldn't of happened
Jordan, Buckinghamshire on April 20th, 2008
I also prefer the 1st series of Skins as it is much more funny and entertaining. especially the russian episode ^^. Skins 2nd series went fast and really thought it got no where. now a 3rd with a brand new cast. Do not like it , but will watch it anyway.NEVER KNOW, might be the right thing to do.
Jason Willis, Northern Ireland on April 19th, 2008
i love the cast, i thought it would be possible 2 c tem in collage.
Kristian, Newcastle on April 18th, 2008
Skins is easily the best thing i have ever watched and i want 2 know if the rumours about sid and cassie appearing in series 3 are true
Shell, Derbyshire on April 18th, 2008
I also think they've made a big mistake to get a whole new cast. I think it was a massive mistake to kill off chris, it was a good story, but chris is such a big character!
bobbie on April 18th, 2008
i think it is wrong i liked the old characters Were not bored with Sid, Tony, Maxxie, Michelle , Anwar, Cassie, Jal yet. Skins will b nothin without them... its bad enuff that chris is gone...Look what happened with bad girls and footballers wives... the same will happen to Skins because you wont get any viewers. i want the old characters back we are synin a petition 2 get them back n if not ill watch the first skins then never watch it agen. KEEP OLD CREW ADD A FEW NEW FACES WE WANT OLD CREW BACK.......
Hayley, Cardiff on April 18th, 2008
I think axing the whole cast is a terrible idea and a waste of something when it was doing so well, I can only hope what they replace the previous cast with is at all worth watching.
Jimmy, London on April 18th, 2008
Bad idea axing all the cast. I knew it would be rubbish straight after the episode when Chris died. Loads of people think Tony is the best character but Chris is way better. The boy is a ledge
Dwane, Chesterfield on April 17th, 2008
I think the Old Cast leaving is a good idea in one sense, but honestly what happened to them? most of them were taken from us without a sense of closure, did Sid find Cassie?, what happened between Tony and Michelle? How did Anwa etc get on? all questions that I feel need answering, also How did Chris Die? I have always Been a Big fan and supporter Of Sid in the series' so I have a bias on this subject, I really hope they find ways to inform us on the other's whether it be through the occasional "oh you got a postcard from Tony Effy" or whatever, I for one would Like to see These characters' stories continued to a suitable Conclusion, but hey I'm not a Writer, I will be scrutinizing series 3 as soon as its aired ;)
Helen, Middlesbrough on April 17th, 2008
I have watched both series of skins and thought that they were really good and enjoyed them. I think that some of the orginal cast should have been kept to work along side the new cast as this would be more likely to keep the veiwers who have watched the last 2 series. Will have to wait till new series starts to see what it like.
Jamie, London on April 16th, 2008
series two, an excellent conclusion. Much darker, which gave this series the "edge" the first series failed to. It was obvious the current cast would not return, and most of the story arks were concluded skilfully, Anwar going with Maxi and his boyf was an excellent touch. Cassie was always going to be a very complex character, and i felt this story line was a tad unrealistic but not bad. Teenage death is a difficult storyline, but I feel this was played excellently but the cast and crew. All in all it was excellent. New cast for a possible series 3, it was inevitable, Xmas special of the old cast, I agree with Jamie B, i just don't know what value this would have, as we already know what the old cast "should" be doing. Well written, loved each episode. Great stuff!

At first i was worried about skins, but after thinking about it,it sounds quite good.
Abigail Millar, Helensburgh on April 16th, 2008
Will there be auditions held in Glasgow for series 3, or anywhere in Scotland?
Ellie, Glasgow on April 15th, 2008
I have watched all of the second series i think and i think it was all a bit sad and depressing compared to what i have heard from series one (Because i didn't watch series one) Series one i heard was fun and more about partying and drugs. Can anyone tel me actually what happened please? I'll miss the old chracters because they are4 all very lovely gorgeous and FITTT :o. Can't wait till series 3.
Lewis, Sheffield on April 15th, 2008
I don't know if anyone else has already mentioned this but another C4 show chose the same path and was ultimately cancelled... Teachers! They started to make secondary characters more prominent in series 3 and then by series 4 they had become the main group. Don't get me wrong, I really liked ALL of Teachers but I have to agree with other comments about the cast being axed too soon. The final episode was very sad, but mainly because it felt so rushed and the portrayal of the friends grieving about Chris just appeared totally unreal. I think characters like Maxxie and Anwar had more life in them and it's a shame that we won't get to see how the writers could have developed them. However, I will watch Series 3 - at least there is a some link, i.e. Effy and if I don't like it, well I'll just stop watching! Oh and in regards to the S1 or S2 - which is better? I'd have to say S1 - I think S2 became more a show for adults than for its target audience of teens.
Ellie, Kent on April 15th, 2008
BIG mistake.. its the cast that made skins what it is, and axing them all from the show is going to do it no favors. Especially as series 2 was so dark and really didnt live up to the high expectations everyone had for it. The story line was so dark and serious.
Rob, London on April 15th, 2008
hmm I'm not sure if Skins will work with a new cast, I guess we will just have to wait and see!
Izzie, Leeds on April 15th, 2008
I like that they are keeping Effy and I understand that its about teenage life, I think its just very sudden to get rid of all the other characters. Viewers begin to identify with characters, as with The OC and when they tried to focus all the episodes in series 4 on Kaitlin it didn't work. People get used to characters and grow to love characters and how they grow, its just such a shame that the show ended so abruptly last. I thought the last episode was rubbish. I also felt that because they focused on one particular character in each episode it ruined series 2 really.

I'm very excited about the new series. I'm even going in for the auditions in London! Hah. I loved the second series of skins, more so than the first. With the axing of the characters, I find it's a good decision. I loved Life On Mars on BBC 1. But they finished it on their second series, but what an end it was! Such a great program finishing, leaves a feeling of emptiness inside, but also a good feeling too. I guess, happy that the series was amazing and didn't let it down after the first series was made. This is the same for skins, although it's sad to see everyone go, it's good as a new fresh start is made and when people can watch the third series, most people shouldn't compare it to the original double series of Skins because of its new start. I can't wait for the new series, I can only hope that I am in it! Hah, I won't be though. :( :P
Natalie, London on April 15th, 2008
i cant believe you're replacing the cast i bet you'll lose over half the viewers. it's a silly decision, everyone loves the cast right now! i dont think i'll watch it anymore...
Darren, Canada on April 15th, 2008
Honestly, I think this is a brilliant, brilliant move by the writers. As much as they're sure to be maligned for it, teen dramas tend to get stale quickly, and you can't deny that the writing went downhill quickly in series two. By bringing in a new cast now, they avoid the obvious staleness issue and don't have to continue the character arcs they bundled with the original cast. As much as I love these characters, a well written new cast will keep this show going longer than it would have otherwise.
Holmes, Birmingham on April 15th, 2008
For me, having seen the finale, the creators have tried to give the show too broad a scope of themes, Tony's episode, to agree with an earlier comment, was similar to Fight Club, because it was trying to be smarter than it was. To finish the episode with a 'shocking revelation' that it was all in his mind is awful when people have figured it out not soon after the beginning. Series 1 was strong because the characters were loveable and easy to invest in much like Dawson's Creek or The O.C. (you want them to get the girl etc.) but by sequencing the episodes as one per character, they actually revealed that they had created singularly-faceted characters who added little to the other's storylines hence why series 2 lacked cohesion and scenes with 'the gang' together. The show was appropriately advertised as THE show for teenagers and series 1 allowed young actors to show their chops with a series of dramatically contrived scenes and storylines. Series 2 has focused on the young writers and basically given them a 101 course in how to write television...badly. Like someone else said, the boxes are there, and steadily with this new series, are being ticked. My final complaint is that after having sacrificed beloved characters in the face of making a show that's relevant to teenagers now, with a new cast and new options, should the creators not consider moving the series away from middle-class Bristolian suburbia? I mean it is supposed to relate to teenagers as a whole.
Josh on April 15th, 2008
I can relate to the cast in series 1 and 2 and i dont want to get to know a new cast. thers still so much more to be done with the cast at the moment! questions need to be answered! I think its not good axing them, and ill watch how the first episode of series 3 gos and decide if im going to watch the rest, but i dont think its gonna work.
Jamie, Bristol on April 15th, 2008
I think the new series sounds FANTASTIC it will be fresh and we'll get to know the new characters just like we did in the first 2 series of skins. GREAT idea I also LOVE Effy so it will be exiting to get to know her more
Beth, London on April 14th, 2008
i think that the first & second series are both different and have their own reasons for keeping us hooked. Im not sure that axing the current cast is the best idea because 2 series wasnt really enough time to see them develop or whatever. But who knows, it might be a good thing and a new bunch of people will be interesting and add different storylines/themes to it. At least with Effy in it, there might be some link to the soon to be 'old' cast. It will be a shame not to see sid and tony in skins anymore though.
Kelly, Pitsea on April 14th, 2008
I love skins, and all the charcters i will be very upset to see them go. I looking forward to series 3 and all the new story lines. Its very exciting.
Heather, Cornwall on April 14th, 2008
I understand what he's saying, that its focus is college life, so it would be harder to follow them up as they get older. BUT. I do enjoy the series as it is, I'm open minded to it as it could be incredible, but it will be difficult to watch the same show with different characters. It's like seeing a family photo with different people inside.
Alex on April 14th, 2008
I love the current cast of skins and I think that as long as the new cast of skins is up to the same standard as the current cast then the new series could end up being just as good as the first. But also if the cast aren't up to scratch then the whole new series could be a massive mistake and viewers would just stop watching. I plan to watch the new series but if it isn't as captivating and great as the first then a lot of viewers (including me) are going to disappear.
garycuk on April 13th, 2008
It's actually quite heartbreaking to say goodbye to them all - especially Maxxie/Sid - but times change. I won't be watching the new series, but I'll support all the actors in their new projects.
Dan Wells, Hertfordshire on April 13th, 2008
tbh i fink it good idea gettin rid of them. tony a head case, and cassie another sort, we seen all there drug takin, parties hard times, love and what ever, now its just borin, at the end of the day a new cast is a new program, if skins disappeared and they bought out a new shows called woteva, every1 wud watch and love and wudnt realise it was skins. at the end of the day do u want to see tony marry michelle, sid marrie cassie and woteva sporeaded out over endless series of them arguein gettin bk together all whilst not ageing in the show still bein at school but looking older. BRING ON THE NEW PEOPLe. new cast. new show. new plots hey hey cant wait
Leeann, London on April 13th, 2008
i completly missed the first series and loved the second, but i do think, even tho warming to the idea of a new cast, the producers must have been out drinking or sumthing to come up with such a brave step like this one. This will either go two ways like marmite love it or hate it, cant wait to see what they come up with. will miss the old cast a lot... Heres an idea they should take the old characters out 1 by 1 finishing of their stories, during maybe the whole of the 3rd season while introducing the knew characters slowly so that we get used to them first. P.s if they having a leaving party can i come ???!!!!???
Laura, Scotland on April 12th, 2008
I like the idea of a complete new cast as it gives the writers brand new and interesting waves of stories. I loved the first series, and enjoyed how dark and complex the second series was as we went in depth into the lives of ordinary teenagers which, especially myself, can relate to. The range of situations was brilliantly portrayed and kept our break times at college filled with conversation. However, I also believe cutting the entire cast is a season too early, as there is far more depth into these characters that the writers could go.
