1st series was loads of fun ... 2nd series quite deep and essential viewing Very bad idea to dump the cast ! We identify some of ourselves with certain of the cast and they have allowed us to emphasise with them. Please review and reverse the cast chnage .... We are so involved, we need gradual change.

i am totally against the thing bout axing them, its just nrt going to be the same! the first series was so much better than the second, but nice to see effie is carrying on, she is fit.

Boooooo! It will be hard to watch the 3rd season knowing that the charactors i will fall in love with only have a shelf life of 2 years. Everyone on series one and two has so much story left, it feels like a real shame

The second series of Skins has been poorly written rubbish. God knows what the 20 writers have been doing???? I don't think anyone will waste their time watching a third series. Why introduce new characters when they have not even used or properly developed the existing characters. The second series shows that it has been written by loads of people whi must be locked in individual cells as there is absolutely no relationship from one episode to another, and so the characters end up feeling empty to the point where I could not care less about any of them. I think the existing actors should do a runner asap. It sounds like the 'creator' is just trying to create publicity for a series that has not even beem re-commissioned and probably won't be unless E4 has money to burn. Bring back Biker Grove! Bring back One Tree Hill! Bring back Degrassi Junior High!!!!
gayguy on April 12th, 2008
is there going to be any gay people in the new series?
Laura on April 11th, 2008
Excuse me? Cassie is awesome and far better than Tony, Michelle, and Sid.

The 2nd series of skins was a lot of rubbish, i was really looking forward to series 2 and have kept watching to see if it will get better but it just gets even worse! Chris was the best character. I'll definitely not be tuning into series 3.

I'm gutted. Absolutely gutted. I simply love Skins. I think the characters are brilliant, the writing superb and the acting unbelievable. I would much, much prefer them just to axe it now rather than dumping the whole cast and starting afresh with a new one. I also love the way Brittain assumes that the show will have the lifespan to change the cast every two years. Will I watch the new series? Yes, I more than likely will. But I do believe that the majority will switch off, disgusted with what has been done with the cast. Like one of the above comments said, it won't be Skins, it'll be something else. I want to see how Michelle and co. get on in later years, not watch a brand new bunch of immature teenagers. We've already had that! BAD MOVE! Hope the show gets the axe.

I was starting to go off the show and I now know for certain that I won't be tuning in for Series 3. So much more could have been done with the characters, Anwar didn't even recieve an episode this series - IMO we barely know the characters and I personally find the scriptwriters lazy. I don't see how Series 3 could possibly work when Effy is one of the dullest characters on the show and all the characters we have finally grown to love - have been given the boot!

I'm still not decided about this series. Seemed a little convenient everyone got paired up (the boring Sid and tart Michelle being no exceptions) so i'm glad that Chirs was killed off to shake things up a little. Aside from the obvious over-exaggeration of teenage life, I still enjoy the programme, but will it survive with a new cast? I'd like to think so. Especially since we're losing the characters who don't really do anything except dull the show down, but are we really going to get completely different characters and not bog-standard stereotypes? And none could replace the antics of Anwar.

I think the second series has been outstanding. Better than the first even. This weeks episode feat Cassie and Chris's death was amazing, all of it from the impact of him dying and Cassie running as far as she go and realising it would never be far enough. I'm sure the finale will also be outstanding. Whilst many think changing the cast is a bad idea, i disagree. It would be the easier route for the writers to stick to the same popular formula, but they know that these characters are going to take different paths and no longer will it be about these teenagers being together. I have every confidence that the new series will be every bit as good as the previous one have been. have a little faith people!

I love both the first and second series, just in different ways. I like the way it shows the light and dark side of growing up and that there are consequences to your actions, what ever they may be. I do obviously love the cast and it is a shame that it had to come to an end with them BUT things change. It wouldn't be the same with them going off to University anyway as none of them would be together. I love skins and will definately watch the next series :o)

Although I've really enjoyed Series 2 (totally addicted)- I've missed the fun of series 1. I know what Jamie means about bad stuff happening to teenagers, but how unlucky do one set of friends have to be??? I missed the funny and lighter parts of the show. It's almost like the events of series 2 could have spanned over another 12/24 episodes and been interspaced with some other lighter storylines. As for getting rid of the cast; I think it's hugely disappointing as the current characters still have so much more to offer. Skins is an awesome show, but I think there are too many unanswered questions about some of the teens who have made their first appearance in Series 2. Everyone I know has fallen in love with Tony, Michelle, Maxxie, Anwar, Sid, Chris and Cassie. You relate to them as they all have elements of your own friends in them. I'm not sure a new set of characters are going to be welcomed by skins fans. Hopefully the producers will realise this is a massive mistake and continue to feature the current cast.

The guy is completely delusional if he thought series 2 was better. The only reason I endured watching it was because series 1 was so good. Series 2 was farcical throughout, the brilliant characters they had built up in the first series were torn apart some of the most amateurish screenwriting to ever make television. Just when you thought they crammed it full with every teenage "ishoo" possible, they resort to teenage pregnancy. The dramatic scenes lacked any kind of credibility, they should have stuck to the more light-hearted fare that worked so well in series 1. The writers clearly had dreams of cinematic excellence, particularly evident in the Tony episode of series 2, which was trying so hard to be some twisting "Fight Club" style work of genius, but just left us utterly bewildered. They should quit now whilst they're ahead, because Series 3 is guaranteed to be worse. An Eastern European? That's another box ticked.

I think when the new series kicks off people will eventually forget that there actually was different cast initially. However, that can't be denied that present actors will be missed. They all did so well in terms of acting. Tony, Cassie and Sid were my favourite. Hope their careers will go alright. I really hope they will

All makes sense to me realy enjoyed first series and second one has been awesome. Major ups and major downs. A little annoyed about chris getting killed off, but he made me laugh so much in his episode it kinda makes up for it. Bring on the new batch good link with Effie she's pretty cool not as twisted as she likes to be. I know from sixth form that when we left we cgot new guys taking over from us and it's just the same with skins think it's a smart idea keeps it fresh and it's how life works. Bring it on! Jr

I don't really mind that they'll be changing the cast. Yes, I'm going to dearly miss the old cast, but I think introducing new characters won't be that bad. New characters with less baggage will lighten the tone, making it less dark than it was in series two.
Mia Cabrera on April 11th, 2008
Axing the whole cast isn't going to do the series any justice. Yes, i understand that the creators are only focussing on teenage life and that they are aiming to give an accurate depiction of it but i feel as though that these characters haven't been given the chance develop fully. Rather than starting fresh with a new cast, i think the creators should focus on the group's transition from adolescene to adulthood. I think that is a crucial aspect of teenage life. I wish the cast all the best in their future endeavours.
Yamini on April 11th, 2008
I'm all for not following the cast forever, but I feel in the two series until now we haven't really learned and gotten truly deep in the character's personalities and back stories... I really wish we could've spent more time with them. I feel like I barely know them at all.
Natalie, London on April 11th, 2008
I am not happy with this. Why change something that doesnt need changing i along with many otheres love the current cast a new cast just wont be the same!
David, Bristol on April 10th, 2008
I think they've changed cast way to early, we havent seen the characters develop, just a wham bam thankyou mam, theres so many characters two series wasnt enough to seriously delve, showcase and develop each cast member in the fashion you see on other shows. I feel shortchanged. I mean come on guys we hardly know them. Theres too much going on at one time and its a big mistake to change the cast just as we're growing to know them. Bad idea and the third series will suffer from it, mark my words. Series two was writen with too much going on and the story line was very far fetched its become nearly laughable. I mean come on guys its so unrealistic compared to modern 'real' teenage life, series one was far superior, they have over shot the second storylines, really looks as if its been written by some teenager with a wild somewhat silly imagination. Get some more mature writers in. The second series was trying to be too stylised and 'wacky' again adding the the somewhat laughable and unbelievable story lines. Whoevers in charge needs to get a grip on how to develop and portray the show, series two was a massive disappointment and could have been so much better after such a promising start.

Personally i think Mr Brittain & co are victims of their own hype. How's production on the new series coming along? "Well we haven't actually been commissioned yet, as far as I know" I think that says it all really

If the website for the original cast stays up I won't have too many complaints. I love the writing, so I'm sure they know what they're doing, and the next series will be good. I'd just really hate if I couldn't still get the videos/blogs with the original cast.
Jen, Daz, Cagsy & Pete, Liverpool on April 10th, 2008
how many problems can a bunch of middle class annoying teenagers have? Surley not enough to have a whole new cast oh wait I see a problem for them ..."mummy & Daddy wont buy me a car when I turn 17" god I hate this program and wish it would just vanish of the face of the earth xx
James, Kent on April 10th, 2008
Can i just say Hannah Murray (Cassie) was a good actress, playing a teen with an eating disorder. What shes been through shes obviously upset. So its not 'Hurrah!'. By the way, cutting out all the cast is basically ruining the whole show.
Leeboy on April 10th, 2008
Bold and foolhardy move I think - It won't be Skins it will be something else. It may be good and a success. Be kinda good to see some of the Skins characters developed in maybe another drama vehicle to see how life continues for some of them rather than just walk away from them and leave them
Naz on April 10th, 2008
WORST DECISION EVER. People watch Skins because of the characters, I personally would have loved to see how Maxxie, Tony, Cassie et al got on further in life but obviously this is now out of the question. I certainly won't be watching Series 3 and to be honest, its going to be tough getting a new cast that will be as good as this years.
Brekkie, Wales on April 10th, 2008
A big mistake clearing out the cast now. The characters have only started to develop this time around - and just as we want to delve a bit deeper, that's it - they're axed. There was certainly scope to keep them around one more year - unlike many US dramas characters moving apart in Skins wouldn't be too much of a problem - most episodes see the central character interacting mainly with people outside the main cast, so it's not as if it's really based around a central location. And it all seems rushed - giving this lot one more year would give you a series to blood in the new characters so there was a natural succession the following year - instead it's going to seem like a second-rate spin off and will be lucky to make a fourth series.

I didn't watch the first series when it was first shown however I caught up as I recorded a night of Skins on my pvr. I enjoyed this series much more than the first and I thought there were moments of this series that were very powerful and moving such as the death of Sid's Dad. As for the third series and axing the cast I think it's a bold move but could be costly

They held an open casting a month ago and you only just now figured out that the rumours they were replacing the cast are true? Anyway, I don't watch this show, but I think it is both a brave and stupid thing for the producers to do. Brave because too often "teenage" shows lose focus and try to make the characters stay young forever. Refreshing the characters lets the programme makers focus on what they want to--like the interview said--those two years without compromise. The foolish part is in thinking people will tune in for entirely new characters when they will be mourning the loss of the ones they have invested their time in. But, as I said, I don't even watch the show.
Ryan, Lancaster on April 10th, 2008
RE: the comment above. If the cast had totally changed after 4 or 5 seasons, people would have become even more attached to the characters and then it would be a bad idea. But the routine cast changes seem to have been in place from the very conception of the show, so how can it be a bad idea? I personally think the show will be very good if not better because of this cast changing policy.
Joe, Liverpool on April 10th, 2008
I don't watch Skins as I think it's completely OTT and rubbish, but getting rid of an entire cast and introducing a brand new one won't help the show, will it? I can see people tuning in to see what the new cast is like, and then the audiences dwindling week after week... Just ignore me, I'm rambling.
Matt, London on April 10th, 2008
I really like the idea - so many shows have tried to hold groups together past school age when that just doesn't happen. People you went to school/college with don't all go to your university or your job etc. If the focus is on an area and a time of life, then you have to move to the next people.
Daniel Erskine on April 10th, 2008
I know it will be good, but i am still very upset, I do not doubt the new series will be good but they have destroyed the show for the loyal fans who watch and that disgusts me. I think that the third series will be its last because fans will have a hard time coming to terms with the new cast. The descision came far to prematurley and the charracters we love and know now have not had a proper chance to shine and they're story's feel incomplete. I think this descision would have came better be it after 4 or 5 seasons.
Laura, Leeds on April 10th, 2008
I think that the first series was much better than the second, as it all got too serious. I'll miss Tony, but i think they are making a big mistake axing all cast
