Preview: The Doctor gets a daughter!
Published Tuesday, May 6 2008, 14:39 BST | By Neil Wilkes | 11 comments
On this week's Doctor Who, the Doctor is left stunned by the "arrival" of a girl claiming to be his daughter.

The Doctor's Daughter
The girl in question is feisty young warrior Jenny, played by Georgia Moffett (who issoon to be announced as the new companion actually the daughter of former Doctor Peter Davison). Jenny is the product of singular progenation - meaning that the Doctor is both mother and father of his new dependent. The Doctor is mostly shocked by her sudden appearance, and in facts spends most of the episode in denial about it. The main plot involves humans being at war with a race called the Hath on a distant planet called Messaline, but I'll spare you the inanity of the finer detail. There's also a cameo from Skins star Joe Dempsie.
The Adventures Of... Miss Martha Jones
Once again Martha gets her own subplot, having been kidnapped by the Hath and promptly written off as "collateral damage" by an unsympathetic - yet strangely perceptive - Jenny. Her peril is short-lived, however, as before too long she has befriended her captors and developed a master plan to find the Doctor, end the war and blah blah blah...
Hath-Soaked
As for the Hath - well, they look like the Ood (cost-cutting at the BBC costume department, perhaps?) but instead of tentacles coming from their mouths, they have beakers filled with bubbling green liquid. Also in common with the Ood, they have a name that is ripe for pun possibilities. Post your best jokes at the end of the column...
Say What?
Here are some select quotes from the episode, with the now customary stars inserted to keep you wondering. Add your guesses at the end of the column!
"She's my daughter."
"Drop your *******."
"Hello dad."
"Every child of the ******* is born with **** *********."
"All ******** is regulated. We're at war."
"Now then, I'm Doctor Martha Jones. Who the hell are you?"
"You're an ****, that's all. A **** L*** is so much more."

What with the recent re-appearance of Bernard Crihbbins, would have tied things up nicely with a story arc going back to the 60's and the Dr as Grandfather in the show then. Can't believe Dr Who hasn't had sh@gged anyone pregnant, over time, or maybe had DNA stolen to create a clone race or some more plausible tosh than Singular Propogation. Singluar Propogation sound like Galifreyan W@nking to me :-)

Please, for the sake of my sanity, do *not* announce her as the new companion. If this does happen, I shall personally write an angry letter! And no-one wants that to happen, do they? Anyway... she's too pretty to be a companion. She'd just bat her eyelids out of danger.

I think I prefer the theory that the Doc's Daughter came from his brief period as John Smith. The timing would then be right for him having a Granddaughter in the sixties. The Singular Propogation sounds a bit rubbish to me. We'll see.

The trailer alone looks like this upcoming episode may be the worst of all time. The 'daughter' is possibly the biggest Mary Sue I have ever encountered, and I've read a lot of dire fanfiction. It's going to be so bad that it will probably overcast the entire series. I can't bear to watch.
