The announcement of the death of ABC News anchor Peter Jennings was made at 11:41pm ET on Sunday night. Charlie Gibson anchored a special report live on the ABC TV network during which colleagues paid tribute to the anchor and senior editor of World News Tonight.
"He was a graceful man, he was an elegant man. He was a man of manners. He was also a terrific reporter and a great anchor for ABC News, as we say, our leader. And he is gone," said Gibson.
