The show's main host Barbara Walters is hoping to spice up the programme and is believed to have recommended Victoria to producers.
Posh is likely to be a controversial choice; she has already raised eyebrows in the US by claiming in an interview that Los Angeles women "dress down", while her recent documentary was panned by critics.
A source told the Daily Star Sunday: "Victoria is hardly a bimbo and she has the added appeal of having already rubbed a lot of American women up the wrong way, so sparks are guaranteed to fly.
"She also, of course, hob-nobs with A-listers like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes and has one of the hottest husbands in town in David Beckham. There's no doubt she's going to add a lot of pizazz to the show."
Beckham is expected to join the show for a two-week trial. If successful, she will be a permanent replacement for Rosie O'Donnell, who quit after clashing with her co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck live on air.
