Fox has announced a range of measures designed to reduce the carbon footprint of this year's Emmy Awards.

A package of measures called "Green with Emmy" will see a solar panel canopy installed over the red carpet grandstands where celebrities will arrive for the 59th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 16. Renewable energy from solar, wind and hydro-electric sources will be used to power the Shrine Auditorium, and energy-saving bulbs of both LED and florescent types will be installed in the press tent.

The red carpet itself will have a green makeover, being made this year of recycled plastic bottles, and organic, locally-grown food will be served to guests.
