CBS has picked up an eight episode run of Jingles, a new reality series from reality TV guru Mark Burnett.

Variety reports that the advertiser-friendly show will see teams of players come up with catchy jingles for real products. Each week, the jingles will be performed in front of a studio audience and a viewer vote will determine a weekly winner and loser. The winning team's jingle will then be included in a TV advertisement that week.

"This show is sort of like America's Got Talent but with a purpose," said Burnett. "It's a very organic way to give advertisers what they're looking for."

Burnett noted that the weekly-winner format will allow teams to potentially benefit from royalties even if they are voted off early in the competition.

"If someone comes up with the next great... jingle, it could be on TV for the next 20 years, even if they're voted off in week three," he explained.

CBS is expected to air the show next summer.
