ABC News is opening seven new foreign bureaus in the news division's largest international expansion in two decades.

Reporters will establish new bureaus in New Delhi, Mumbai, Seoul, Jakarta, Rio De Janeiro, Dubai and Nairobi. They will write, film and edit their material on DV cameras and laptops and then send it to ABC News' larger operations in London, Moscow, Jerusalem, Baghdad and Beijing either by broadband or satellite uplink.

"Technology has dramatically changed how we gather the news around the world," said ABC News president David Westin. "Because our reporters can now shoot and produce their own stories, travel with more portable gear, and transmit material from anywhere, we can report more stories from more locations. This talented team of journalists joins our other foreign correspondents and producers to bring the world's most important stories to our audience."

The ABC News journalists will work with ABC's affiliates including the BBC, APTN, NHK and ARD.
