Debmar-Mercury has bought international rights to make a gameshow of board game Trivial Pursuit.

Producers Burt Wheeler and Sharon Sussman (Sale of the Century) are producing a half-hour show called Trivial Pursuit: America Plays through Wheeler-Sussman Productions.

It will be syndicated to US local stations by Debmar-Mercury to air from next autumn.

Viewers will be able to send in their own questions as video uploads and have the chance to win prizes if they are answered correctly.

Worldwide rights will be sold through Beata Hegedus at London-based Debmar-Mercury International. She said the show would "easily connect with the global television audience".

Phil Jackson is group executive at Hasbro Games which owns the classic board game. He commented: "Enabling broadcasters to customise the format to their audience is exactly what is needed to ensure success for one of our top properties."
