The network has confirmed that 24 will stay off air until the WGA strike is over "to ensure that 'Day 7' can air uninterrupted, in its entirety".
The last first-run episode of Prison Break in 2007 will air at 8pm on Monday, November 12; the show will then go off the air until January 14.
The network plans to concentrate its resources around rebuilding its winter schedule starting with the return of American Idol in a four hour premiere spread over two nights starting on January 15. Friday nights will consist of Bones at 8pm and a House repeat at 9pm effective January 4, the latter series still retaining its first-run, post-Idol slot on Tuesdays starting on January 22. The premiere of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles will move up to January 13 and be spread over two nights.
Fox is planning to continue airing new episodes of The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy and American Dad in January; however, reports indicate that Family Guy showrunner Seth MacFarlane has said that he will not assist with the production of further episodes during the strike. At present, Fox only has one new episode of Family Guy in the can, and that is still scheduled to air this Sunday.
