ABC takes second pilot from 'Mars' man

'Veronica Mars'

ABC has added two comedy pilots to its development plans.

One is an untitled comedic drama from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas. The project, an adaptation of New Zealand show Outrageous Fortune, sees a mother character set out to reform her family of criminals after her husband gets sent to prison.

Two of Thomas's projects have already received pilot orders this season - Cupid for ABC and a Beverly Hills, 90210 spinoff for The CW.

The second new pilot order is for half-hour sitcom Five Year Plan, about a group twenty-something friends trying to plan their future.
