'Beverly Hills' spinoff series confirmed

'Beverly Hills, 90210'

The expected new spinoff series of '90s hit Beverly Hills, 90210 will go into production, The CW has confirmed.

Jennie Garth, who played Kelly Taylor in the original show, will return, with her character now a counsellor at West Beverly Hills High.

The new show will centre on the high school which was the subject of the original - though a generation on - and the Mills family.

Shenae Grimes (Degrassi: The Next Generation) has been cast in the female lead role of teenage daughter Annie Mills.

The network is expected to air the spinoff in the US in the autumn.
