Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) are called to the scene of a vicious dog attack in which a woman and her dog have been mauled to death.

As the detectives rush to track down the ferocious animal before it strikes again, they trace the dog's ownership to Danny Miller (guest star David Warshofsky), a prisoner in Attica already serving two life-terms.

Executive A.D.A. Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) and A.D.A. Serena Southerlyn (Elisabeth Rohm) must determine who of the prisoner's few outside contacts could have aided him in his fight-dog business, and who is ultimately responsible for the dog's highly trained propensity for deadly violence.

S. Epatha Merkerson and Dianne Wiest also star.
