Matt Stewart (Bob Saget), a recent widower, is doing his best to be both mother and father to his two girls; fifteen-year-old Sarah (newcomer Kat Dennings), whose teenage growing pains are amplified by her mom’s recent death and the humiliating fact that her dad teaches at her high school, and Emily (Brie Larson), who keeps ditching elementary school to hang out at home with her understanding Grandpa, Matt’s live-in dad, Sam (Jerry Adler, “The Sopranos???).
