The Oxygen series, which premieres on Wednesday, will follow the heiress in her daily life, introducing viewers to her friends and boyfriend Cy Waits.
"It's a look at everything I go through from the moment I wake up until I go to bed at night, every single day; I wanted to do a show that shows who I really am," she said on a recent conference call.
The 30-year-old previously appeared in the long-running The Simple Life, also starring Nicole Richie, and fronted My New BFF for four seasons, but she told reporters that she had been "playing a character" in both shows and was excited for fans to see the real her.
She added: "I think it was a good chance for me to show who I am, that I'm a human and I go through the same things everyone does. I think when people watch it they might not see me as such a cartoon character anymore. They'll see me as a real person."
However, she admitted that she had been nervous at allowing the cameras so much access to her life, saying that she "never thought" she would cry on TV. "I wanted the fans to see everything as real as possible and what is going on," she said. "So even though it's embarrassing for people to watch me cry, it's what really happened."
"People assume I'm a spoilt brat who doesn't have to work or doesn't do anything for herself, but really it's the opposite. I've been working since I was 17 and have created a huge empire," she said.
"I have 17 different product lines and I'm working every day travelling the world. Because I was a party girl before when I started out, they assume that's how I really am still. When I'm at parties now it's for work and I'm either being paid there or promoting a product."
Other highlights that viewers can expect from The World According To Paris are a closer look at her relationships with friends including Brooke Mueller, the ex-wife of Charlie Sheen, and family members like her mother Kathy.
"My mum and I have always been so close and I talk to her about everything and see her all the time so throughout the show people will really get to see the mother-daughter relationship, and I don't think people have seen that with me before."
While admitting that the constant camera presence had been "stressful" at times, she told the press that she was open to filming a second season of the show, alongside working on various other projects.
"I'm working on my new skincare line which should be out soon, and make-up. I'm also doing some different projects overseas, opening my beach clubs and next, opening my own hotels. A lot of work - I'm very busy!"
As for her ultimate goal in life, she said: "I want to be happy and successful and build a huge empire, and then have a family and my own children and continue being a business woman and get more involved in real estate and my own properties."
