Cyrus to host Teen Choice Awards 2008

Miley Cyrus has been announced as the host of Fox's Teen Choice Awards this year.

Nominations have also been released for the August 4 ceremony, which recognises youth favourites.

Gossip Girl leads the candidates with 14 nominations, including best TV drama and TV actress for Blake Lively, Leighton Meester and Taylor Momsen.

Cyrus herself is competing in the comedy actress, TV comedy, best single and best female artist categories, while Justin Timberlake has three nominations.

Fans aged 13-19 can support the nominees in an online vote.
