'Amsterdam' star to lead US sci-fi pilot

New Amsterdam star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has taken the lead role in US sci-fi pilot Virtuality.

The actor will play mission commander Frank Pike in the two-hour pilot set aboard a starship from Earth.

Meanwhile, Roseanne actress Laurie Metcalf has signed up to play the lead in Easy Money, a new series for The CW. The drama centres on a family of loan sharks, in which Metcalf's character is the matriarch and boss.

Also for The CW, Anne Archer (Ghost Whisperer) has been hired to co-star on new drama Privileged as rich widow Laurel Limoges, who is raising her twin granddaughters.

The series is based around a well-educated woman who is hired as a tutor and full-time life coach for a pair of wealthy 16-year-old sisters.
