Bookmaker accepts bets on fate of TV shows
Published Tuesday, Apr 22 2003, 18:13 BST | By James Welsh
An internet bookmaker has started taking bets on which TV shows may fall under the axe of network executives, as decisions begin to be made as to the future of shows for the fall schedules.
Simon Noble, CEO of BetWWTS.com, said: "Each year a number of underperforming television programmes and family favourites are cut by the networks drawing the ire of a loyal fan base of dedicated viewers."
Odds on the fate of various American TV programmes are being offered by the Antigua-based company; ABC's The Practice, for example, has odds of 5/8 on being axed - while the odds for it continuing for another season are listed at 13/10. Hack has odds of 10/11 to be axed; 5/6 that it'll stay on. A complete list of odds can be found on the company's website.
