MSNBC, Newsweek extend alliance

MSNBC and Newsweek have extended their strategic news-sharing alliance. The agreement was first signed in November 1999.

Organisations encompassed by the agreement include MSNBC, MSNBC.com, NBC News, The Washington Post, Newsweek, and Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive. Although each news organisation maintains editorial independence from the others, NBC says the alliance provides for greater "co-operation" between the organisations on the business side of operations. News material, along with technological and promotional materials, will be shared.

Neal Shapiro, NBC News President, said: "This has proven to be a successful alliance for us all. As the only news organisation already operating across broadcast, cable and the Internet, we are pleased to continue to team with The Washington Post and Newsweek in our effort to deliver news across all available media platforms."
