SJP running new comedy for HBO

Sarah Jessica Parker is working on a new comedy project for US cable network HBO.

The Sex And The City star is executive producer on Washingtonienne, a half-hour comedy pilot based on a woman's blog about her sex life. Jessica Cutler has written a book about the blog, which featured real characters from the Washington DC political world.

Other projects announced by HBO this week include a new crime drama from Martin Scorsese and Sopranos executive producer Terence Winter.

The pair are producing a pilot called Boardwalk Express about organised crime in 1920s Atlantic City. Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson, executive producers of Entourage, are also working on the show.

David Simon, a co-creator of The Wire, is working on another drama, Treme, set in New Orleans and about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

HBO has also confirmed Entourage will return for a fifth season in the autumn.
