TiVo names new president
Published Wednesday, Apr 30 2003, 14:26 BST | By James Welsh
TiVo has named former NBC Executive Vice President Martin J. Yudkovitz as its new President, as the company seeks to drive take-up of its products via partnerships with cable and satellite providers.
Yudkovitz has resigned his post at NBC, where he founded NBC Digital Media in 1995 and developed joint ventures with Microsoft, such as MSNBC.com and CNBC on MSN Money. He worked at the network for nearly twenty years. NBC's Chairman, Bob Wright, said: "Marty has crafted creative solutions to many challenging issues that the television industry has faced over the last two decades. TiVo has chosen a talented executive whose broad experience and understanding of the media landscape will serve the company well. We wish him great success."
At TiVo, Yudkovitz will be responsible for developing new partnerships with cable and satellite operators, and for developing revenue-generating programmes with content providers on TiVo's DVR platform. Yudkovitz said: "Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to participate in pivotal shifts in the television industry. TiVo represents perhaps the most dramatic driver of change the industry has ever encountered. I'm thrilled to join a company that will provide so much opportunity for both the consumer and the industry."
