The show, which attracted competition between networks and is likely to be picked up to series, is one of several Latin American formats crossing to the US.
Cerone, who has also led Dirty Sexy Money, said: "Most of them were stripped soaps, wild and wacky and not of interest to me, but this one was a weekly show, and I found it immediately compelling."
The producer said he liked Detectives' logical rather than scientific approach, and the idea of a young prodigy. The show features an 11-year-old boy genius who is key to solving the crime mysteries.
