MTV has started making plans for a two-hour remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Lou Adler, the executive producer of the original 1975 movie, has confirmed his involvement with the project. The new version will be based on Richard O'Brien's original screenplay but may also include music which was not featured in the original.
Fox Television Studios and BermanBraun have agreed to team up with MTV on the remake. Discussions are also under way with BSkyB and Sky Movies, who may co-finance and distribute the TV movie abroad.
Casting and directing details have yet to be finalised, but there is already a tentative air date of October 2009.
Adler confirmed: "I'd like to see it shown a year from this coming Halloween, but that's up to MTV."
