The R&B singer is working with experienced reality producers Mark Burnett and JD Roth on the knock-out competition show.
Brown, who will act as presenter and main judge, said: "Dancing is more than just a way of moving, it's a different expression of music. That's what I want to focus on with this show."
Burnett added: "Chris Brown really is a superstar, and someone who lives and breathes music and dance - so his credibility is massive in this arena."
The Apprentice producer Burnett and Roth, whose credits include The Biggest Loser, will pitch the show to broadcasters next week.
