NBC has announced it plans to air an episode of cable channel Bravo's smash hit series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy in its original hour-long format on national network television.

The show follows the efforts of a team of gay men - Ted Allen, Kyan Douglas, Thom Filicia, Carson Kressley and Jai Rodriguez - all experts in their respective fields of food and wine, grooming, interior design, fashion and culture - to makeover a straight man.

NBC Entertainment President Jeff Zucker said:

"We tested the waters with a 30-minute version of Queer Eye on NBC a few weeks ago and it worked extremely well as a promotional platform. We wanted to offer this exposure again but keep it in its original format so viewers can have a full Queer Eye experience."

The show will air as part of a special primetime lineup on Thursday, August 14:

8pm: Friends - 'The One with the Lottery'
8:30pm: Scrubs - 'My Drama Queen'
9pm: Will & Grace - 'Marry Me a Little, Marry Me a Little More'
10pm: Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
11pm: Local news
11:35pm: The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, featuring Queer Eye's "Fab Five" discussing their show.
