Final season of 'Frasier' approaches

Speculation has begun circulating as to precisely how smash hit NBC comedy Frasier will wrap up when its final season airs this TV season.

The end of the last season saw the long-time friendship between KACL personality Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) and producer Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin) end tumultously when Crane became interested in the station's financial analyst, Julia Wilcox (Felicity Huffman). Doyle departed KACL for another station, adding a cliffhanger touch to the finale of the show's tenth season - garnering shocked reactions from some Digital Spy forum members who are fans of the series.

Now, the New York Daily News reports, there's a possibility Crane could be married by the time the show wraps up at the end of its eleventh season. The paper reports Grammer told reporters that the Frasier team is "kicking that around." Part of the humour of the series thus far as been the title character's inability to hold down a relationship for longer than a few episodes.

Even more interestingly, the marriage of Niles (David Hyde Pierce) and Daphne (Jane Leeves) will apparently be put to the test, with Niles' ex-wife Maris causing problems for the couple. The role of Maris has never been cast, and this will apparently remain the case for the eleventh season. The new season begins on Tuesday, 23 September at 9pm ET on NBC.
