The Saved By The Bell actor will begin working on the weekday edition of the show on September 15, when the 15th season airs.
Lopez previously worked on the programme as a weekend co-host.
Senior executive producer Lisa Gregorish-Dempsey commented: "He will be a fresh and dynamic presence, and we can't wait for him to assume his new role."
Current host Danya Devon will now work as a correspondent, while Mark McGrath is returning to his music career.
