Almost 11 million tuned in to see Madonna's controversial kiss with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera last week.

Latest weekly cable ratings show that an average of 10.71 million viewers tuned in to the ceremony live on MTV. The figure is down slightly from last year's 12 million but still good enough to top the chart.

The post award show wrap-up averaged 4.91 million viewers to take second place in the rankings, whilst the pre awards show had 3.42 million viewers, landing tenth place.

Spike TV's WWE Raw drew 4.76 million to finish third, whilst TNT was fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh with episodes of Law & Order and Homicide.

Overall MTV averaged 2.63 million per night, making it the most watched cable network across the week, ahead of TNT (2.57m), HBO (2.08m), Disney (1.98m) and Nickelodeon (1.89m).
