The hour-long project focuses on former soldiers who swap military life for fatherhood in Washington. When they lose their jobs during an economic slump, they utilise their old skills to take on dangerous assignments.
Rush Hour director Ratner will likely helm the pilot should Fox decide to move the script into production.
Coto told Variety: "It's the most personal thing I've ever written It takes place in a suburban tract neighbourhood like [mine]. And it's about the balancing act that I think all fathers and mothers have to do these days."
Coto was impressed with the enthusiasm shown by the network for the project, adding: "Fox took it off the table, and we never pitched it anywhere else."
