3.4 million viewers tuned in to see the finale of Spike TV's Joe Schmo Show on Tuesday night, Nielsen Media Research figures have revealed.
During the hour in which the finale aired, Spike TV pulled more total viewers than broadcast network UPN - with the show being the highest-rated programme of an original series on the cable channel since September 2000.
The Joe Schmo Show was a fully-staged reality TV show in which the star, Matt Kennedy Gould, believed he was competing in a reality show called Lap of Luxury. In Tuesday night's finale, however, he discovered that his housemates, the host, and the network executives he'd been in contact with were all actors. However, he also discovered the prizes awarded to various "contestants" through the series were his - including the $100,000 he thought he'd been playing for on Lap of Luxury.
