Katherine Fugate, the creator of Lifetime's Army Wives, has ceased her involvement with the show, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Fugate said in a statement: "Army Wives is a fantastic tribute to the real-life heroes serving in our armed forces and I'm so happy to have been a part of it.
"With the show such an established hit, now seems like a logical time for me to step away and focus on developing new projects."
ABC Studios, who partnered with Lifetime on the series, said: "Katherine is incredibly talented and we’re grateful for her work in creating Army Wives. We are very happy to have had the opportunity to work with her."
The US show premiered in 2007 to strong ratings but has experienced much behind-the-scenes trouble, with the drama having three different show-runners over the course of 23 episodes. Nick Thiel is the latest to take on the role.
