Christopher McQuarrie and Fox TV Studios will team for the 13-part TV series Persons Unknown.
The series is the first TV project for McQuarrie, who won an Oscar for penning the screenplay for crime thriller The Usual Suspects.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Persons Unknown revolves around seven strangers who wake up in an abandoned town without knowing how they got there.
"It's a mystery, but it's not at all surreal," said Fox TV's David Madden. "This is a real world."
Alan Ruck, Chadwick Boseman, Gerald Kyd and Kate Lang Johnson have been cast in he show, which McQuarrie will executive produce with his wife Heather. Remi Aubuchon (24) is the showrunner.
The series begins production on October 27 in Mexico.
