David Simon and Tom Fontana, collaborators on the TV series Homicide: Life On The Street, will reunite for HBO's Manhunt.
Variety reports that the duo will turn James L. Swanson's book into a 12-part miniseries which tracks the search and capture of Abraham Lincoln's assassin John Wilkes Booth.
Simon and Fontana will pen the screenplay and executive produce.
The series is to focus on the less well-known historical figures linked with Lincoln's death and the resulting media commotion and police hunt.
Harrison Ford had previously been attached to a film adaptation of Swanson's Manhunt.
Simon recently completed work on HBO's acclaimed Baltimore-set crime series The Wire. Fontana has served as a producer on Oz and St. Elsewhere.
