ABC has picked up David Goyer and Brannon Braga's pilot script Flash Forward, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story, based on Robert J. Sawyer's novel, follows the chaotic consequences after everyone in the world blanks out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds and witnesses a vision of the future.
The network is hoping to position Flash Forward as a companion to Lost.
Goyer will direct the pilot and executive produce with Braga, Jessika Borsiczky Goyer, Vince Gerardis and Ralph M. Vicinanza.
The project originally had a home at HBO, but the cable network allowed Goyer and Braga to pitch to other broadcasters, prompting a bidding war between ABC and Fox.
Goyer is one of the writers behind the revived Batman film series. Braga currently produces 24 and is a Star Trek veteran.
