Variety reveals that the former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star will take a part in new HBO drama The Wonderful Maladys.
Gellar said that the show, which centres on three adult siblings who lost their parents as children, represents "a terrific next chapter for me". The actress is slated to play a character with "a kind of zealous immaturity - like a drug addict with a to-do list".
HBO is reportedly planning to shoot the pilot for the show, written by Charles Randolph, to air next year, and it may be joined on the broadcaster's schedule by Bored To Death.
The comedy pilot stars Ted Danson and Jason Schwartzman, playing a magazine editor and an alcoholic writer respectively, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
