The season two premiere of Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica was a ratings hit for MTV in the US last week.
The fly-on-the-wall series averaged 4.7 million viewers on Wednesday, making it the most-watched episode to date. Demographic scores included 3.9/11 in adults 18-34, 2.5/6 in adults 18-49 and 6.1/21 among female teens.
Elsewhere, the premiere of FX's Todd TV failed to make a significant debut with just 803,000 viewers (0.7 rating) in the same slot. The show, which sees viewers "take control" of one person's life for several months, pulled in an even less impressive 0.3 rating for an encore in the next hour.
