AMC, Hensleigh journey to 'Mars'

AMC and Jonathan Hensleigh have teamed up to develop a sci-fi series based on Kim Stanley Robinson's novel Red Mars.
Hensleigh (Armageddon) will script and executive produce the show, which focuses on the inhabitants of the planet's first human colony.
AMC's Christina Waye told The Hollywood Reporter that Mars's cinematic quality appealed to the network.
"This fits in with our bigger vision of wanting series that feel like cinematic one-hour movies," she said. "We're always looking for big genres but to do them in slightly different ways so they feel fresh and new."
AMC is also prepping a remake of cult '60s sci-fi series The Prisoner.
