NBC wins Kelley pilot bidding war

NBC has held off competition from CBS to secure David E. Kelley's new untitled legal pilot on a series commitment, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The show is set in a Chicago law firm and focuses on a veteran partner and his co-workers, one of whom is his daughter.

NBC has handed Kelley a greenlight for a pilot and a multimillion-dollar penalty if the project doesn't make it to series.

Kelley, the creator of Ally McBeal and The Practice, previously worked with NBC on LA Law.
