The long-running series, which Fox chose not to renew for a 14th season last week, may be paired up with King co-creator Mike Judge's mid-season animated comedy The Goode Family.
However, due to the time taken to produce an episode of King, ABC would not be able to partner it with The Goode Family until later next year. They may opt instead to make a script order for King while they wait to see how Judge's new cartoon comedy fares with viewers before partnering the shows.
A spokesman for producer Fox TV would only confirm to The Hollywood Reporter that "another network is interested" in taking on King Of The Hill.
ABC picked up Scrubs from NBC last year and also considered bringing over Julia Louis-Dreyfus's The New Adventures Of Old Christine from CBS.
