Fox semi-retired from acting after announcing that he was suffering from Parkinson's Disease in 1998. The 47-year-old, who has recently had cameo roles on Boston Legal and Scrubs, has now confirmed that he will appear in four episodes of the firefighting drama.
Fox said of the role: "The funny part is me playing a paralysed guy because I am the opposite of paralysed. It's tricky just to even be still."
The Back To The Future star added that the character is "really dark and misanthropic".
The new season will begin airing in the US next March.
