Cyrus backtracks on Obama 'Montana' claim

Rex Features

Billy Ray Cyrus has claimed that comments made about Barack Obama's daughters appearing on Hannah Montana snowballed.

The father of Miley had said that Malia and Sasha had been invited to feature on the Disney show, adding: "They probably will [appear on the show]."

An aide to the President-elect said Obama was not considering the offer, and now Cyrus has apparently backtracked on the claims in an interview with Us magazine.

"To tell you the truth now, this thing got a lot bigger, a lot quicker than I ever planned. It's a double-edge sword for me because first of all, I have a great deal of respect for President-elect Obama. I just mentioned about them being on the show, and it snowballed."

Cyrus, who said he could see reasons for and against the Obama girls appearing on the show, concluded by saying: "I think God has a plan for everything. I have no doubt if it's meant to be, I'll look up and see them some time before April."
