US networks gear up for 'Super Tuesday'
Published Tuesday, Mar 2 2004, 07:50 GMT | By James Welsh
American television networks will break into primetime programmes on Tuesday night to update viewers on the latest primary contest results.
March 2 is "Super Tuesday" in the US, with nine states holding primary contests, and a tenth having caucuses. More delegates are at stake in Tuesday night's elections than any other day of the election season.
ABC is planning special reports through the evening as events demand, while NBC and CBS will offer regular updates on the hour. Evening news programmes will air live across the timezones.
CNN, FNC and MSNBC are all planning night-long coverage. With California being one of the states in "Super Tuesday," coverage will go on into the early hours of Wednesday across the US.
