The comedy duo said British reports that the show received a mixed response from American TV critics were not accurate.
"I think it's gone well," Lucas told GMTV. "We're doing another series for HBO in America next year, which is great... people have responded really well to the show out there.
"The viewing figures went up every week. And most of the reviews were great."
Walliams added: "We got one bad review - and then the British papers - they went, 'They've had terrible reviews!' Well, we had one!"
Lucas also claimed that American audiences did not have trouble understanding characters such as Vicky Pollard.
"I mean, she's quite hard to understand for British people - so I don't think it makes much difference for the Americans," he said.
