The Rob Thomas-created romantic dramedy, which was yesterday confirmed for a 10pm Tuesday slot next year, will air for nine episodes instead of the expected 13.
The network has also cut its orders for new dramas Castle and The Unusuals down to ten episodes.
Cupid, a revival of Thomas's short-lived Jeremy Piven comedy, stars Bobby Cannavale as a man who believes he is the Roman god of love.
