The 37-year-old has just started filming his last stint as Dr. John Carter after the show's bosses confirmed its finale after 15 years.
Wyle told WENN that there had been tears and hugs on set, adding: "It's like going to your closet and finding your favourite pair of jeans from high school and thinking, 'That's never gonna fit me,' and you put it on and you go, 'Woo-hoo, hey, that looks pretty good.' It's remarkably comfortable.
"It's like going to a high school reunion; a family reunion. It's very rich, lots of emotions."
Wyle is one of a number of ER regulars making a return for the final run, with storylines having been drawn up for all major past characters. A plot was also planned for George Clooney's Dr. Ross, but speculation remains as to whether he will return to his breakthrough role.
