Forrest Gump star Gary Sinise has finally signed on to play the lead character in the upcoming New York-based CSI spinoff.
The actor will play Det. Rick Calucci, an elite first-grade detective of a New York C.S.I. unit who lost his wife on 9/11.
"Gary Sinise and New York is solid gold," said CSI creator Anthony Zuiker. "Together we are looking forward to bringing New Yorkers an important show in the golden era of television."
Casting is still in process for the main female lead, although 24 star Vanessa Ferlito and Black Hawk Down's Carmine Giovinazzo have joined in supporting roles.
The new team will be introduced in this season's penultimate episode of CSI: Miami.
