Former Gilmore Girls producer Gavin Polone has sued Warner Bros Television for breach of contract, The Hollywood Reporter says.

In a suit filed on Wednesday, Polone accused WBTV, the WB, which aired the show from 2000 to 2006, and successor network The CW of "self-dealing at all levels" and "[colluding] to defraud the originator of hit Gilmore Girls television series with a scheme that rivals the greed and bravado of any storyline defendants could script".

Polone's has alleged that his production company Hofflund/Polone came to an agreement with WBTV in 2000 for a percentage of Gilmore Girls's profits.

Although Hofflund/Polone agree that Gilmore Girls was not profitable during its early years, they contested WBTV's statement claiming that the show was running a $53 million debt by 2006.

Polone could net "tens of millions of dollars" in damages if he wins the case.

Last week, WBTV itself brought a $49 million lawsuit to CBS, alleging that the network has yet to pay out agreed fees for an extra licence premium and the reimbursement of production costs.
